Simon and Schuster Building

The completion of this last of Rockefeller Center’s original buildings was marked by a ceremony on November 1, 1939. John D. Rockefeller Jr. placed a construction worker’s hard hat on his head, and heavy work gloves on his hands, then drove a silver, two-pound rivet into a column in the building’s lobby.
