As summer glides into fall, there is a lot of transition around Rockefeller Center. Everything's new again, indeed!
The extraordinary Split-Rocker sculpture by Jeff Koons is only around for another week—make sure to visit the Plaza and check it out before it starts to be dismantled on September 12. You still have a bit more time to catch the Koons retrospective at the Whitney, though—it's up till October 19.
At the same time, we're very pleased to welcome the return of the farmers market, which runs this year from September 10 to October 10, and will feature more than 25 local farms and small-scale makers, sellling everything from fresh produce (usually picked that day) to hand-milled alpaca yarn (really!).
Another thing to jump on quick is the Summer Garden & Bar, which packs up on September 28. With so little time left to enjoy a cocktail in one of the most iconic outdoor settings in America, you better get to it asap. Luckily, when the bar shutters, it is replaced by the Rink, which officially opens on October 10.
After a sleepy summer, Christie's gears up for its busy fall sale season with a wealth of treasures. Starting September 12, displays include Indian and Southeast Asian Art, Fine Chinese Paintings, South Asian Modern and Contemporary Art, Fine Chinese Ceramics and Cloisonné Ceramics from Private American Collections.
Another amazing summer of TODAY Show concerts is also drawing to a close, with just a few chances left to see your favorite musicians play (for free!) in the Plaza. On September 5 you'll find Usher, September 23 brings Kenny Chesney, Lady Antebellum rocks it on September 30, and on October 9, to close it all down, is the legendary Fleetwood Mac!
For its 40th anniversary season (wow!), Saturday Night Live is back on September 27. To attend the show, try your luck with standby tickets—all the information you need is here.
Last but not least, the Rainbow Room officially reopens in October, bringing the classic venue back to the center of NYC's vibrant nightlife scene.
