There's plenty to delight children at Rockefeller Center—from Top of the Rock to an NBC studio tour (for those six and up) to sundaes at the Summer Garden—and the shops are both an experience in themselves and a way to take home some of the fun. Now that school's out, here are the places to hit around the complex.
LEGO: The NYC flagship is paradise for lovers of the endlessly stackable bricks and the pop-culture universes they inhabit. Showcasing all the hottest items, such as Star Wars, Spider-Man and Minecraft sets, the store also wows with LEGO replicas of Rock Center and its sculptures in the windows, as well as a play area and a pick-a-brick wall.
Nintendo NY: Play the day away at this two-floor destination by the gaming giant, where you can sample the latest features like ARMS, to take your fighters to the next level. Big launch events for new releases up the excitement.
The Shop at NBC Studios: T-shirts, plush toys and other collectibles from The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, SNL and more NBC favorites give you a little piece of broadcasting magic at this store inside 30 Rock (near the Sixth Avenue entrance).
Paper Source: DIY craft sets, pom-pom kits, emoji stickers, robot tattoos, monster gel pens—there's a ton to keep kids of all ages engaged at this shop with an extensive selection of papers and crafting supplies in the Concourse. There are also in-store workshops, like the fireworks one on July 1 to make paper rockets.
Top of the Rock Shop: This gift shop, also in the Concourse, is a great place for Top of the Rock keepsakes and NYC-themed gear, including items printed with the famous "Lunch Atop a Skyscraper" image.
P!Q: Though some of the creations here have a decidedly grown-up bent (and language to go with it), savvy kids will get a kick out of everything from pop-culture pins and patches to gummy bear nightlights to Rilakkuma plushes at this sophisticatedly silly novelty shop.
