Top of the Rock NYC Observation Deck | Best Skyline Views of Manhattan

Take in 360-degree views of New York City.

Believe the hype. Top of the Rock’s three levels of indoor and outdoor observation decks deliver spectacular, unobstructed views of the city skyline. With terraces facing east, west, north, and south, Top of the Rock’s panoramic sights make it the ultimate observation deck in NYC. At the pinnacle of 30 Rockefeller Plaza’s 70 floors, it’s one of the top things to do in New York City.

The Top of the Rock experience is being reimagined and exciting new additions to the observation decks are on the horizon. While we are under construction, you can still expect the same fantastic views, but please note that access to specific areas may be limited while we work hard to bring new features to Top of the Rock.

Journey to the top of Rockefeller Center

Joie Chandelier

Made of 14,000 crystals, the Joie Chandelier was created by Swarovski exclusively for Top of the Rock. The largest of its kind, it soars 3 stories above the Grand Atrium lobby. And when you look at it upside down, you’ll see it’s in the shape of 30 Rock.
Your experience begins with Rockefeller Center’s history of innovation. As you make your way from street level to the observation decks, you move forward in time through a series of installations that introduce new and emerging New York artists and technology. The interactive artworks create an opportunity for you to make your mark on the future of Rockefeller Center, and share the experience with the world online.
On the mezzanine level, you will travel through a mesmerizing audio-visual installation designed by Andrew Giugno and Ray Kunimoto. As you proceed toward the elevators, experience a fully immersive soundscape that represents the future of Rockefeller Center and New York.
Make your mark on the sky through Brooklyn-based Breakfast Studio's interactive kinetic sculpture. As you move in front of the art, the flip-disks come to life and capture your unique movements and adds them to a database of previous visitors that replays throughout the day.
Take your portrait in the styling of Brooklyn-based artist Diana Sinclair. Your photograph will become part of a lasting collage, featuring you along with millions of fellow visitors from across the globe, and will be displayed on the 67th floor.
Take to the skies and see yourself on Top of The Rock from a virtual drone perspective overlooking all of Manhattan as it appears today. Receive the final video directly to your phone, ready to be shared! No two photos are alike. Using AR, the appearance of Manhattan changes based on current weather conditions and the progress of the city itself.
Enjoy three levels of unobstructed views––from the 67th and 69th floors, and on the 70th floor open-air roof deck. Please note that access to specific areas may be limited while we work hard to bring exciting new features to Top of the Rock!
o The 70th Floor, which has no metal or glass enclosures, is perfect for photos. Take incredible skyline pictures. Or use the skyline as a backdrop for photos of you and your friends and family. Please note that starting April 2023 access to the 70th floor may be limited while we work hard to bring exciting new features to Top of the Rock.

FAQs

The Top of the Rock experience is being reimagined and exciting new additions to the observation decks are on the horizon. During the construction period, Top of the Rock visitors will experience a limited-time, must-see installation featuring all local New York artists and inspired by the original vision of John D. Rockefeller Jr. and his wife, Abby Aldrich, who curated the original art of Rockefeller Center around a central theme: New Frontiers. Each artwork is interactive, making the guest its subject, demonstrating how our future is shaped by having you in it.

Beginning in 2024, guests will be able to follow in the footsteps of the ironworkers who constructed Rockefeller Center on the Beam Ride as they recreate the famous Lunch atop a Skyscraper photo. Upon the completion of the new Top of the Rock, an entirely new mezzanine level exhibit and theater experience will open and visitors will be able to soar 30 feet into the air on the Sky Lift delivering NYC’s only private, unobstructed 360-degree view.

While we are under construction (Beginning February 1, 2023), you can still expect the same fantastic views, but please note that access to specific areas may be limited while we work hard to bring new features to Top of the Rock.
