New Frontiers at Top of the Rock
New Frontiers is Now Open at Top of the Rock Observation Deck!
Rockefeller Center was founded on innovation, based on a dream to breathe new life into midtown Manhattan. It was designed with this vision in mind and curated by John D. Rockefeller Jr.'s wife, Abby Aldrich, with art commissioned around a central theme: “New Frontiers."
New Frontiers is a new, must-see series of installations from New York’s emerging artists of today, continuing Abby Aldrich's mission for Rockefeller Center as a symbol of creative innovation. Everyone who comes to Top of The Rock is invited to discover the history and future of art, technology, and entertainment in our city—not as an observer, but as an active participant in progress. Each artwork is interactive, making the guest its subject, demonstrating how our future is shaped by having you in it.
Featured Artworks:
Reflections: Take your portrait in the styling of Brooklyn-based artist Diana Sinclair. Your photograph will become part of a lasting collage, featuring you along with millions of fellow visitors from across the globe, and will be displayed on the 67th floor.
Conduit No. 5: On the mezzanine level, you will travel through a mesmerizing audio-visual installation designed by Andrew Giugno and Ray Kunimoto. As you proceed toward the elevators, experience a fully immersive soundscape that represents the future of Rockefeller Center and New York.
Time Capsule Over Manhattan: Make your mark on the sky through Brooklyn-based Breakfast Studio's interactive kinetic sculpture. As you move in front of the art, the flip-disks come to life and capture your unique movements and adds them to a database of previous visitors that replays throughout the day.
