      • Pose in front of the iconic Radio City neon marquees on 49th and 50th streets between Fifth and Sixth Avenues.
      • Head up to Top of the Rock, the famous observatory on top of 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Arrive in the morning to catch the best south-facing light.
      • Take a shot in front of the bronze Atlas statue located across the street from St. Patrick’s Cathedral, on Fifth Avenue between 50th and 51st Street.
    • Avoid the Lines

Rockefeller Center is busiest during the holiday season when the iconic Christmas tree is displayed on the Main Plaza. In fact, the most popular (and most crowded) time to visit the Christmas tree is between Christmas and New Year’s. Avoid the biggest crowds by visiting early in the season—and arriving early in the day.

Interested in checking out Top of the Rock? Buy your timed tickets online—and in advance—to avoid lines or choose to purchase the VIP ticket for even faster service. Insider tip: To avoid crowds at Top of the Rock, come before or after sunset, which is the observatory’s busiest time.

    • Stay Dry on Rainy Days

During wet weather, head down to the underground Concourse, a passageway that runs from Fifth Avenue to Seventh Avenue. You can actually get all the way to Top of the Rock from the 47th-50th Streets-Rockefeller Center subway station without ever going outside. There are also lots of family-friendly places to sit and eat along the Concourse—and wait out stormy skies.
