We loved Top of the Rock, it has the best views of uptown and downtown and the Empire State Building... A must do if you are in town.

We paid extra to do the VIP tour which was well worth it...We had a fantastic guide tell us about the history. We also got to see the very exclusive rainbow room which is not included in standard ticket.

Me and my partner went up the rock on the sunset entry and what an amazing time we had! Fantastic views all around the top, with a mixture of indoor and outdoor viewing points! Another must have on New York!

Not only were the views great but so were the staff. I've never been treated so well, they were kind and funny and all round brilliant people. Can't wait to go back!

We went before sunset and spent over 1 hour going between the different floors and views. We loved the audio tours and enjoyed the Gesso app. We were on the VIP tour before and recommended it.

Nothing beats this view: The best rooftop in NYC

Journey to the top of Rockefeller Center

  • Joie Chandelier

Made of 14,000 crystals, the Joie Chandelier was created by Swarovski exclusively for Top of the Rock. The largest of its kind, it soars 3 stories above the Grand Atrium lobby. And when you look at it upside down, you’ll see it’s in the shape of 30 Rock.
  • Sound and Light Hallway

On the mezzanine level, you will travel through a mesmerizing audio-visual installation designed by Andrew Giugno and Ray Kunimoto. As you proceed toward the elevators, experience a fully immersive soundscape that represents the future of Rockefeller Center and New York.
  • Indoor and Outdoor Viewing

Enjoy three levels of unobstructed views––including the open-air roof deck. Please note that access to specific areas may be limited while we work hard to bring exciting new features to Top of the Rock!
  • The Weather Room, Level 1

The Weather Room, a newly opened rooftop café on Level 2 of the Observation Deck, offers elevated, locally sourced casual fare like artisanal sandwiches, mezze plates, and worldly pastries. Open daily from 9am to Midnight.
  • The Beam, Level 2

The Beam, a new experience at Top of the Rock, invites visitors to recreate “Lunch Atop a Skyscraper”, the iconic 1932 photo depicting 11 ironworkers lunching precariously on a steel beam, during the construction of 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Follow in their fearless footsteps by buckling up for an exhilarating ascent 12 feet above the deck. Add The Beam while purchasing your Top of the Rock ticket.
  • Open Air Roof Deck, Level 3

Level 3, which has no metal or glass enclosures, is perfect for photos. Take incredible skyline pictures. Or use the skyline as a backdrop for photos of you and your friends and family.

FAQs

The Top of the Rock experience is being reimagined and exciting new additions to the observation decks are on the horizon. During the construction period, Top of the Rock visitors will experience a limited-time, must-see installation featuring all local New York artists and inspired by the original vision of John D. Rockefeller Jr. and his wife, Abby Aldrich, who curated the original art of Rockefeller Center around a central theme: New Frontiers. Each artwork is interactive, making the guest its subject, demonstrating how our future is shaped by having you in it.

Beginning in December 2023, guests will be able to follow in the footsteps of the ironworkers who constructed Rockefeller Center on the Beam Ride as they recreate the famous Lunch atop a Skyscraper photo. Upon the completion of the new Top of the Rock, an entirely new mezzanine-level exhibit and theater experience will open and visitors will be able to soar 30 feet into the air on the Sky Lift delivering NYC’s only private, unobstructed 360-degree view.

While we are under construction (beginning February 1, 2023), you can still expect the same fantastic views, but please note that access to specific areas may be limited while we work hard to bring new features to Top of the Rock.
