The first N.Peal store was opened in London’s splendid Burlington Arcade in Mayfair by Nat Peal, an Englishman who loved America, in 1936.

Nat Peal's cashmere became internationally famous, and the self-styled “sweater king of England” began to make annual trips to New York and Boston to grow his business in the United States, where Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Cary Grant and Ava Gardner were among his famous customers.
