2006 Anish Kapoor’s Sky Mirror

September 19 – October 27, 2006

Sky Mirror, an innovative, monumental sculpture made of polished stainless steel designed by internationally renowned artist Anish Kapoor, was displayed at Rockefeller Center at the entrance to the Channel Gardens. The breathtaking 35-foot-diameter, 23-ton circular mirror stood nearly three stories high and offered a dazzling experience of light and architecture. Angled upward, its concave side faced 30 Rockefeller Plaza, reflecting an upside-down portrait of this elegant and iconic New York City skyscraper and the shifting sky around it. Sky Mirror was presented by Tumi, organized by the Public Art Fund and hosted by Tishman Speyer.
