A lush hidden gem rooftop venue: 620 Loft & Garden
Perched above the city’s hustle and bustle, 620 Loft & Garden (620 Fifth Avenue) feels like a secret hideaway, with its manicured gardens and shimmering blue reflecting pool. St. Patrick’s Cathedral’s marble spires and rose window provide a dramatic, fairytale-esque backdrop for romantic wedding ceremonies, garden parties, and receptions (for up to 165 guests). With a large, clear tent ensconcing a swathe of the outdoor space, you can host photo-worthy events in the garden year-round, rain or shine — as well as in the airy, recently renovated loft space.
610 Loft & Garden (610 Fifth Avenue), located atop a seventh-floor penthouse, shares the same views and enchanted garden atmosphere as its sibling-neighbor. With a slightly smaller capacity (150 people) and a light, airy interior space, brightened by wall-to-wall windows, this venue makes for an ideal location for daytime events, press events, and evening receptions.
A glamorous celebration rooftop venue: Rainbow Room
Upon opening on the 65th floor of 30 Rockefeller Plaza in 1934, about five years before the completion of the Rockefeller Center campus, the iconic Rainbow Room began its reign as a hotspot for glamorous New York City dining and entertainment. Now, the landmarked venue, with award-winning interior architecture, is also available for special events, such as weddings and galas. Your guests can enjoy the splendor of a storied institution that has welcomed Hollywood stars, U.S. presidents, and other esteemed visitors throughout the decades. Along with the Rainbow Room’s famed rotating dance floor inlaid with a compass rose, shimmering chandeliers, and tall windows that frame picturesque views of Manhattan, your guests (up to 350) can enjoy delectable canapés and sit-down dinner menus for a night to remember.
A rooftop bar and terrace: Bar SixtyFive
From an outdoor terrace and through floor-to-ceiling windows, Bar SixtyFive (30 Rockefeller Plaza, 65th floor) serves up stunning, sky-grazing views of some of Manhattan’s most beloved buildings, including the Empire State Building and Chrysler Building. Delicious, seasonal dishes complement handcrafted cocktails that channel mid-century American cocktail culture — something its next-door neighbor, the Rainbow Room, played a prominent role in shaping. This venue, open exclusively for private events (with room for a 190-person reception, or a seated meal for up to 130 guests), makes for a special spot to toast to milestones, birthdays, and holidays. Or, book the adjoining spaces — Rainbow Room and Bar SixtyFive — for a full floor, perhaps to accommodate a wedding ceremony, cocktail reception, and dinner and dancing with dazzling sunset views.
A garden oasis rooftop venue: Radio Park
This idyllic 24,000-square-foot greenspace sits atop the ninth floor of Radio City Music Hall, cleverly doubling as a green roof for the legendary venue below. Typically only available to those who work at Rockefeller Center, this one-of-a-kind space is now available for private events. Exquisitely landscaped with lush foliage, hedges, ferns, white cherry trees, and a profusion of flowers, depending on the season, Radio Park and roomy verandas make for a natural spot to host plein-air events. Whether that’s a garden party, birthday celebration, welcome party, rehearsal dinner, or reunion, you can soak in the New York City skyline, right in the heart of it all. The gardens hold up to 300 people for cocktails. Or, you can gather up to 175 guests for a seated meal inside, among brick accent walls and potted tropical plants.
A luxe lounge rooftop venue: The Clubhouse
Located on the 33rd floor of 1 Rockefeller Plaza, this aptly named two-story venue has a comfortable, apartment-like vibe, with sunny indoor rooms and outdoor spaces that provide sweeping city views. Think of it as your own upscale pied-à-terre—without the long-term commitment or upkeep. Well-appointed with velvet armchairs, dark walls, and curated bookshelves, The Clubhouse makes for a stylish setting for intimate gatherings, like receptions, bridal showers, happy hours, and holiday parties. The inside spaces — a suite and a living room — hold 40 or 50 people, respectively. And you can host up to 70 guests on one of the two terraces. Or, for a larger gathering (up to 120 people), book the entire space and make yourself at home.
