Armando Cabral expands his brand with an Afro-centric retail experience in the newly renovated Rockefeller Center with the opening of the ARMANDO CABRAL Mercado. The innovation space is the encapsulation of Cabral’s vision for a unique brick and mortar extension of his namesake luxury brand, located in the heart of Manhattan. This immersive retail concept will only be open for a calendar year, giving it an immediate sense of energy and discovery.
Cabral’s own story is as unique and global as the Mercado he is opening. Born in Guinea-Bissau, he grew up in Portugal and sought his education in London. At University, he was recruited and started his modeling career, traveling the world and eventually settling in New York and starting his own footwear brand in 2008. The Mercado is a clear reflection of Armando’s love of travel, experiences as a citizen of the world, and a celebration of his own African heritage.
Designers and artists on the roster for the ARMANDO CABRAL Mercado include Taibo Bacar, Doreen Mashika, Maison D'Afie, Shekudo, Silk and Sleek, and fine artist Reggie Khumalo with more due to be announced.
